On 29 September 1947, in Awhantinkomè, a district of Porto-Novo, the Prophet-Pastor Samuel Biléou Joseph OSCHOFFA founded the CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST. The country was then called Dahomey and was under French administration. The Church was therefore born at the height of the colonial era.
Founded by the Prophet OSCHOFFA on 29 September 1947 in Porto-Novo (Benin) at the height of the colonial era, the Celestial Church of Christ (C.C.C.) remains a mystery, one that called for nothing less than a chronological trilogy, given the wealth of facts and information I hold on the life of our beloved Prophet.
A Church that intrigues
From its very beginnings, the C.C.C. has raised questions, among its faithful as well as among those discovering it. The first volume of the Prophet's biography, OSCHOFFA – Tome I, is devoted to those early hours: from the founding in 1947 up to 1954. Its author, Lévi M. YANSUNNU, draws on what he lived, saw and heard alongside the Prophet and the pioneers, his own parents among them.
The teaching received at the origin
What the Prophet received from the Holy Spirit, in the form of recommendations and injunctions, makes up the teaching of the Church. La Doctrine, written "by those who came before", sets it down as it was received, so that it may serve as a reference for the faithful of today and tomorrow.
Why return to the sources
In the decades after the Founder was called home to God, practices changed and divergences multiplied.
From within as from without, the divergences spread as the years go by, above all in the decades that followed the Founder's call home to GOD.
To return to 29 September 1947 is to return to the starting point: what was received, by whom, and in what order.
